Workspaces and teams

Organize videos into workspaces, invite teammates, and scope API keys.

Create a workspace

Use one workspace per brand, show or client. Each one carries the defaults its projects inherit.

  1. Open the workspace menu in the app and choose New workspace, or go to Settings, Workspaces.
  2. In Create Workspace, enter a name. Optionally add a description and choose the narration language.
  3. Select Continue. You can then generate or upload an icon, or skip it.

Your plan limits how many active workspaces you can have. Settings, Workspaces shows how many you have used. Archived workspaces do not count toward the limit.

Set workspace defaults

Open a workspace's settings to set what new projects start with:

  • Basic Info. Name, headline, bio, icon and language.
  • Editorial Guidelines. Tone, target audience, narrative style, vocabulary level and content context.
  • Voice. The default narrator, plus voice direction.
  • Theme. The default look.
  • Captions. Whether captions are on by default, and their style.
  • Transitions. Default transitions and their duration.
  • Watermark. Your logo overlay.

You can still override any default for a single project.

To retire a workspace, use Archive workspace under Danger Zone.

Invite teammates

Members belong to your account, so a teammate you invite can work across your workspaces. The Members tab is in each workspace's settings. It appears only when the feature is enabled for your account.

Everyone sees the member list. Owners and maintainers also see the invite controls.

RoleWhat it allows
OwnerEverything, including other owners.
MaintainerManage members, invites and settings.
EditorCreate and edit projects.
ReviewerRead and comment.
ViewerRead only.

To invite someone:

  1. Open Members and choose Invite someone.
  2. Enter their email and pick a role. You cannot invite someone as an owner.
  3. Send them the invite link yourself. Typecut does not send email.

An invite lasts 7 days, and each email can have one open invite at a time. The invitee must sign in with the invited email address, then accept. From Pending invites you can re-issue a link, which makes the old one stop working, or revoke it.

The person who owns the account is always its owner. They cannot be demoted, removed or leave. Only an owner can grant, change or remove the owner role.

Use API keys

Create keys under Settings, API keys. API keys need a Creator plan or higher.

When you create a key, you choose:

  • Name. Something to recognise it by, such as "Cursor" or "n8n".
  • Access. Whole account, or Only one workspace. A workspace key sees and changes only that workspace.
  • Can. Read and change, or Read only. A read-only key can look but cannot change anything or spend credits.
  • Expires. In 30 days, in 90 days (the default), in a year, or never.

Typecut shows the full key once, when you create it. Copy it then, and treat it like a password. From the list you can Rotate a key (a new key with the same name and access; the old one stops working) or revoke it.

Account-wide keys act as the account owner. They are not members, and they cannot leave the account. Keys limited to a workspace, a project or a budget cannot manage members.

AI apps that connect over OAuth, such as Claude or ChatGPT, are listed under Settings, AI apps (MCP), where you can disconnect them. See Connect your AI.

Next: automate it with the API reference.
