Changelog
Notable user-facing changes to the Typecut app, API and MCP connector, newest first.
Grouped by week. Tags: [App] the editor and dashboard, [Audio], [API] the REST API, [MCP] the agent connector. Entries start on 23 September 2026; earlier changes are not backfilled.
Week of 26 October 2026
- [API] API keys can be Read only (they can call
GETroutes and nothing else), can be rotated from the list, and new keys expire in 90 days unless you choose otherwise. Connected AI apps have their own page, Settings → AI apps (MCP). - [API] The OpenAPI spec names the right base address,
https://app.typecut.ai/api/v1, so generated request samples work as copied. - [MCP]
GET /api/v1/mcp/manifest.json?profile=corepublishes the main door's catalog with each tool's step. The tool reference is generated from it. - Docs A new design in the app's style, overview pages for each section, request and response samples side by side, and a tool reference grouped by the step of the work.
Week of 19 October 2026
- [MCP] The main address,
https://app.typecut.ai/api/v1/mcp, lists a short set of tools grouped by step (orient, plan, sound, media, build, look, deliver) and answers every other tool by name.toolsfinds the rest. The old full menu moved to/api/v1/mcp/house.
Week of 5 October 2026
- [App] A new dashboard home with a launchpad, template, style and model lanes, and a project gallery. The old layout stays reachable at
/classic. - [App] A redesigned Library with a sidebar and overview, a Models page listing image, video, voice and music engines, a voices library with previews, and a new Settings area with an MCP & connectors page.
- [App] The editor URL now carries the chapter and scene you are on (
/project/…), so a link opens exactly where you were. Render progress shows in the title bar, and every dialog uses the editor's style. - [App] Editor sessions are chats: auto-named, one session strip, not tied to a single project.
- [Audio] Every workspace can set a default mix profile. The Mixer dock gains per-lane meters and pan, sidechain ducking from any source, and aux sends.
- [MCP]
copy_scenescarries scenes between projects. Scene references can be copied from the editor and read withget_scene_reference. Hosted modules can be linked into scenes by id. Reference projects are read-only for agents unless confirmed. - [MCP] Agents can list, save, fork and re-apply recipes, discover generative models with
list_catalog, and opt into fallback models for image and video generation. - [API]
GET /api/v1/mcp/manifest.jsonpublishes the MCP tool catalog. The MCP tool reference on this site is generated from it.
Week of 28 September 2026
- [App] The new editor. A resizable layout with a hierarchy and inspector, an artboard Design mode, a Script tab, undo and redo in the tool bar, and a phone layout with stage, film bar and clip strip.
- [App] The timeline reads as one film across chapters. Scenes move and trim on the Picture track as undoable edits, hovering the master bar previews the film, and loop regions can cross chapter edges.
- [App] Scene takes: save, switch and compare versions of a scene, with takes shown in the timeline. A History panel names every hand that changed the project, people and agents alike.
- [App] Working together: see who is in a project, manage members and invites, and watch an outside agent work with presence and per-change revert. Comments become one feedback layer with unread badges, timeline bubbles, voice notes and multi-anchor comments.
- [Audio] Music follows your tempo. Set the song's tempo map and both the preview and the exported film conform to it. Waveforms show inside music clips, the voice track shows words, pauses and silences, and narration gets a lane per speaker.
- [App] Start a project from an agent chat: from a prompt, a file or a video link.
- [MCP]
wait_for_generationwaits for a job in one call.preview_compositiontakesquickandsheetmodes,track_elementandmeasure_elementscheck layout, andset_project_runtimedeclares shared modules once. - [MCP]
cancel_generation(alsoPOST /v1/generations/{id}/cancel),talking_head(a face lip-synced to a voice),clip_candidates(the best reels in an analysed video),get_world_manifest, and tool annotations that mark read-only and destructive tools. - [MCP] Agents can upload
.rivRive rigs.
Week of 22 September 2026
- [App] Review comments on a moment in the editor and on the share page, with a frame grab at the playhead. Text-based cuts let you strike words in a voiced block without re-voicing.
- [App] A Thumbnail tab in the export dialog generates three options to pick from. Account deletion is available at Settings → Account.
- [Audio] The music mix ducks under the voice by default. Mix moments (swell, cue in and out, hit) work in the editor and on share links. The groove panel has a step grid, per-track level and pan, and a loop library shared across projects.
- [Audio]
speakrenders a line in a chosen voice as a library asset with word timings, andaudition_voicescompares voices on one line. - [API] A single price book (
/v1/price-book), quotes that price an operation with a bound (/v1/quotes), credit holds (/v1/holds), and budget envelopes with capped child keys (/v1/budgets). Receipts read from the credit ledger and say when they are incomplete. - [API]
analyze_videoandanalyze_audio(with sound and classification options), project export and import as a HyperFrames folder, and workspaces can be created over the API and archived instead of deleted. Every write records which key and agent session made it. - [MCP] The studio profile: about 22 short tools for agents that write their own HyperFrames. It includes
frame_report,preview_composition,check_sync,check_continuity,review_motion, scene verbs (split, merge, move, frame), project-as-files tools, andput_scene_compositionsfor batch landing.
2026-05-23
- Server-authoritative project creation. Tab close mid-flight no longer strands a project as an orphan draft. Failed projects get a proper "Generation Failed" screen with a Retry button and a notification with a Retry link.
- Internal: lifecycle state machine cleaned up —
planning(new),generating, review, ready, failed, rendering, rendered.draftwill be removed in a follow-up release. - Internal: Phase 1 of the public API foundation refactor shipped.
Service layer extracted, actor-context built, ready for the
api_keystable + first/v1endpoints.
